This was originally composed in 1982 for my son, Andy, who was learning the violin and had shown some interest in jazz. Consequently, a relatively simple violin part was juxtaposed against a more dominant and demanding piano part, especially in later revisions. It should all be played with vigour and a sense of abandon. (1982, revised 2008)
